Abstract

New data on the herpetofauna of Lesbos ( Aegean Islands, Greece) and some biogeographical remarks on the islands of the northern Aegean Archipelago.

Fourteen species of reptiles were found on Lesbos lsland. The species Ablepharus
kitaibelii and Mallolon monspessulanus are recorded for the first time from the island. The
localities and some morphometric characters of the caught specimens are noted. Finally, we
attempt to combine our data and the bibliographical ones in a biogeographical approach
to the fauna of the islands of the northeastern Aegean Archipelago.
